At the Law Offices of Stephen M. Murphy, we represent people at one of the lowest points in their lives: after they have been fired or harassed by their employer. Often these actions follow nothing more than the employee requesting or taking time off from work to take care of a sick family member or to get well after an illness or injury.
I am attorney Stephen M. Murphy. I enjoy having an opportunity to help people at their moment of greatest need. As a trial lawyer, I am fortunate to be able to provide that help.
I represent employees in the San Francisco Bay Area who have been illegally denied leave by their employers or who have faced retaliation for exercising their right to take leave. We have successfully prosecuted cases against such employers as Bank of America, Federal Express, Sysco Foods, SBC, the United States Postal Service and Bechtel as well as the counties of Lake, Sonoma, Santa Clara, Alameda, and Marin.

I've always been drawn to David vs. Goliath battles. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction as a trial lawyer to help my clients fight an opponent who is much larger and more powerful than them and obtain a measure of justice.
While I am always prepared to bring cases to trial, my reputation as a trial lawyer means that I often don't have to. I have obtained many favorable results for employees throughout the Bay Area of northern California.
